President William Ruto on Friday morning landed at Moi Stadium, Embu County for an economic forum.
He is to attend the Embu University for Madaraka Day SMEs, Cooperatives, Trade and Revenue Expo.
Alongside his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, they were received by Embu governor Cecily Mbarire and other officials in the county.
He is scheduled to open a new wing at Embu Level 5 Hospital and at noon, open Winas Sacco at Embu Town.
Ruto will then lay a foundation stone for the new market and for the housing programme at Embu.
Also, Ruto will officially open the mega business Expo.
The one-week exhibition, which is scheduled to run from May 26 to May 30, is among a series of key events lined up to amplify the theme for this year's Madaraka Day celebrations.
A key focus is on Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, trade and revenue.
Earlier on, he filed his tax returns at the Kenya Revenue Authority offices in Nairobi where he was accompanied by his deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Ruto's visit to Embu comes less than a week before the county hosts Kenya's 60th Madaraka Day celebrations.
The National Celebrations Committee chaired by Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said the celebrations will be held at Moi Stadium in Embu County.
