The government says at least 100,000 Kenyans currently use the newly launched GavaMkononi digital service.

Immigration Principal Secretary Julius Bitok said with a total of 12.5 million Kenyans registered on the e-citizen platform, they expect the number to hit a million daily once all services are onboarded.

At the moment, there are 5,000 services on the e-citizen platform.

"We are confident that this can reach a million daily, the journey has begun and we want to urge Kenyans to utilize this service," said Bitok.

Some of the services offered digitally are NTSA (Provisional Driving License), Business Registration Services, Police Clearance/Certificate of Good Conduct, Civil Registration Services (Marriage), Foreign Nationals Initial Registration, Directorate of Immigration Services, Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority, HELB, and MSMEs (Hustler Fund).

The PS was speaking Monday when he opened an engagement forum which brought together CEOs and heads of state agencies to deliberate on the ongoing onboarding of services to the digital space.

Bitok at the same time disclosed that they are in the process of collapsing all existing paybill numbers which were used by various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as directed by President William Ruto.

The objectives, he said, are to enhance service delivery by creating convenience and ease of access to services.

"Apart from making sure that there is no multiplicity of pay bills by government agencies. No citizen should be told to pay for the service using this pay bill. All Kenyans must know that if they have to pay for the government services it has to be 222222," he said.

Ruto unveiled the service on June 1, in his continued push to ensure there is ease in the delivery of government services to the citizenry.

"We are in the tail-end of collapsing all the numbers which over 1,000...all ministries and departments have complied," said Bitok.

The phone-based app is set to make the services to be easily available for smartphone users.

Plans to introduce the digital identification cards, he added, are in advanced stages.
