City lawyer Danstan Omari has described himself as the most qualified person to fill the position of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Omari said he has the necessary qualifications and experience and that he is hopeful of emerging the best.

"As you can see the weight of the papers, I have two volumes of academic and professional qualifications including testimonials and recommendations from various institutions," he stated.

Speaking after the interview, Omari said he is the right man who can fight corruption without any fear and bring back the confidence of the office of DPP.

He has, however, asserted that he is going to accept the outcome of the process.

"May the interview proceed properly because this is the rule of democracy, it is competitive recruitment provided for in law," he said.

"I have done my bit, I will respect the decision of the panel and I hope the decision will represent the wishes of Wanjiku."

Underlining the significance of the office, Omari explained that the DPP has a role to play in ensuring the President realizes his goals.

If appointed, he affirmed, that he will go out of his way to ensure President William Ruto delivers on his bottom-up plan.

"Mtu wa mkono wa rais ni DPP. The achievement of national goals and every aspect of development hangs in that office, it controls every criminal investigation in this country," he said.

He added that during his tenure he will at all times be in court to present his cases saying Kenyans do not want a DPP who sits in office.

The interviews enter their second and last day today.

Some eight candidates are expected to appear before the panel chaired by Solicitor General Shadrack Mose.
