Several parts of the country are expected to continue receiving rainfall this week.
The latest forecast by the Metrological Department shows some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley and the Coast will continue to receive rainfall.
However, the South-eastern lowlands, North-western and North-eastern Kenya are likely to be generally dry, the forecast shows.
According to the weatherman, counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley will experience sunny mornings with light rains over a few places.
They include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot.
“Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over several places during the first half of the forecast period reducing to few places thereafter. Night showers are expected over few places,” the forecast says.
Maximum daytime temperatures are expected to be between 10oC and 30oC in these counties.
Turkana and Samburu are predicted to record sunny days and partly cloudy nights, while counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi will have cloudy mornings with light rains over few places, giving way to sunny intervals.
The counties which include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi are also expected to have afternoon and night showers over a few places.
“Maximum day-time temperatures will rise to about 27oC in Thika. Nyahururu will have chilly nights with minimum (night-time) temperatures dropping to 10oC,” it says.
North-eastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo will have sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights.
Mandera will experience high maximum day-time temperatures of up to 36o C with the temperatures dropping to as low as 15oC in Marsabit during the night.
According to the forecast, counties in the southeastern lowlands which include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita Taveta will record occasional cloudiness in the mornings giving way to sunny intervals.
Nights are likely to be partly cloudy with temperatures being as high as 29oC in Voi during the day and as low as 10oC in Machakos at night.
The Coast counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale on the other hand will have occasional morning and early afternoon showers over a few places.
Temperatures during the day will be as high as 31oC in Lamu, and as low as 21oC in Mombasa.
