Embakasi East MP Babu Owino now says members of the Kenya Young Parliamentary Association who participated in the failed KYPA ‘coup’ will be expelled.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Babu said the individuals will never be part of the KYPA again as he was going to expel them without trial.
"The Speaker’s new communication on the new officials of KYPA has been rendered useless and it has caused a lot of consternation of spirits,” Babu said.
In a statement released on Monday, the legislator had said he voluntarily stepped down from his secretary general position in the association.
He said the decision was arrived after consultation with fellow young elected leaders from the Azimio coalition who held positions in the association.
Babu said they also stepped down from their roles to allow others to take charge in the spirit of having a rotational leadership at the KYPA.
However, in his statement on Friday, the lawmaker refuted the statement saying the resignation sentiment was intended to know those opposed to his reign in the KYPA.
The MP annulled the KYPA officials election saying, "Only the secretary general can call for the elections or write a letter to the registrar of societies dully signed to notify the registrar of any changes made.”
He further stated that they still recognise Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi as the association's chairperson and Babu as the the secretary general.
