Editors and senior political reporters from various Kenyan media outlets convene this week in Mombasa for a retreat alongside the National Assembly leadership.

The meeting will discuss and look at ways of strengthening collaborative efforts in covering parliamentary business.

The event, to be officially opened by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, will feature presentations by key figures within the House leadership, the Speaker's Panel and selected MPs. 

During the retreat, editors will receive comprehensive insights into critical aspects of parliamentary work, such as the budgetary process, legislative procedures, and the crucial role of oversight.

The gathering will also serve as a platform for editors to exchange ideas regarding the potential for Parliament coverage in new media formats.

Key figures set to address the retreat include Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw'ah (Kikuyu) and his Minority counterpart Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja).

Others are Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, Members of the Speaker's Panel; Martha Wangari (Gilgil), Peter Kaluma (Homabay Town), and Mohamed Adow. Additionally, National Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge and his deputies, Serah Kioko and Jeremiah Ndombi, will also participate.

Media house editorial chiefs will also address the meeting.
