In a notice, the office says it intends to sell by public auction the items which also include assorted scrap metals and ICT-related stores.

The sale to be conducted by Astorion auctioneers has been set for October 6 at the office car parking along Harambee Avenue.

“Prospective bidders are required to pay a refundable deposit of Sh50,000 payable in the form of cash at the cash office,” the notice reads.

Those interested in bidding have been advised to visit the office to access the catalogue containing the details of the items to be auctioned, conditions of sale, and date of viewing.

Information about the items, it further states, can be obtained by visiting the deputy president’s website at www.deputypresident.go.ke or the National Treasury at http/supplier.treasury.go.ke.

“Further clarification on the public auction may be sought from the contacts-Astorion Auctioneer,” it says.

The auction comes only four months after Statehouse announced a similar sale of auction motor vehicles, tyres, batteries, lawnmowers and assorted scrap metals among other items.

The notice was issued through the State Department for Roads.

An auction catalogue showed a total of 13 vehicles had been marked as unserviceable.

The cars were viewed at the State House Ruiru garage.

The bidders are required to pay a deposit fee of Sh50,000.

“Prospective bidders are required to pay the refundable fee payable in the form of cash at the cash office, executive Office of the President-State House in Nairobi during normal working hours,” the notice read.

Ranger rovers, Mercedes Benz, Toyota Prados and a van were among the models put out for sale for as low as Sh110,000,000 with the highest being a Range Rover whose price had been capped at Sh1.25 million.

Successful bidders were required to pay 25 percent of the purchase price in cash for the lots on the same day and the balance was paid in cash within seven days.

“Failure to which the initial deposit will be forfeited and the item offered to the second highest bidder,” the notice further stated.
