National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula expressed his gratitude to the Mt Kenya region for their strong support of the Kenya Kwanza team.
He expressed his desire to become a dear friend to the Gema community, emphasising his willingness to work together with them and support President William Ruto.
"I want to be and remain a dear friend to the Gema community now and in the future," the Speaker said.
He emphasised his political ties with the Gema community, which he said began with former President Mwai Kibaki.
He urged leaders to focus on development rather than engaging in divisive politics.
Wetangúla made the remarks during a funds drive in Nyandarua county on Monday.
Several area leaders, including Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Nyandarua MP George Gachagua, and MCAs voiced their support for Wetangula, commending his efforts in promoting unity and development.
Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli opposed the shareholding debate, emphasising the importance of investing in the future and consolidating votes in Western Kenya.
Various leaders expressed their admiration for Wetangula and his potential to become a unifying force in Kenya's political landscape.
Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau expressed strong support for Wetangula and defended President Ruto's foreign trips, suggesting that Kenyans should not hesitate to pay taxes to complement the achievements from these trips.
"I ask Kenyans to pay taxes to complement what our President has achieved from foreign trips," Gitau said.
Gitau hailed the unity between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wetangula in supporting Ruto, forming a formidable political force.
The remarks by Nyandarua leaders came hot on the heels of an appeal by the DP to Mt Kenya to rally behind Ruto.
Gachagua said the unity and solidarity of local leaders and their support for Ruto would ensure their interests are heard at the highest levels of government.
"Our call for Unity is for value. We want to leverage our strengths to secure President Ruto’s term the way we did to ensure he got into office. We are rallying Mt Kenya behind him," he said.
He added that there is a need for everyone to forget about their political differences during last year’s general election, saying in a democratic country, everyone has a right to vote.
