The Communications Authority of Kenya announced a vacancy in the Director General position eight days after Ezra Chiloba's resignation.
The company said it is seeking to hire a dynamic and visionary leader who will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing and enforcing regulatory policies and standards, and will also serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
"The DG will be entrusted with a wide array of core responsibilities to ensure effective regulation and promotion of the ICT sector in the country," part of the job summary stated.
The next DG will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and international bodies.
"They will monitor and enforce compliance with regulatory requirements, address violations, and manage CA's financial and human resources effectively."
Further, the authority says the individuals applying for the position should have a minimum of ten years of relevant working experience with at least five years in senior management.
"Must have a strong track record in regulatory, telecommunications, ICT, or broadcasting sector."
For education, the next CA director general should have a bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Applied and Physical Sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
Additionally, the candidate must be proficient in computer applications.
"In essence, the role will demand a comprehensive skill set and unwavering commitment to fulfill CA's mission."
Chiloba had served in the position from 2021, taking over from Francis Wangusi who retired from the docket.
Two years into the position, Chiloba was on September 19, suspended following an internal audit that accused him of financial impropriety
According to the audit, Chiloba and nine other top officials at the authority allegedly mishandled mortgages and allowances running into millions of shillings.
Chiloba was facing allegations of applying for and self-approving a mortgage loan without adhering to due process, to facilitate a property sale.
However, Chiloba refuted any wrongdoing.
In a letter, Chiloba said he had called for his reinstatement by the communications authority.
He argued that he was not granted a hearing before disciplinary action was instituted against him.
Christopher Wambua was appointed as Acting Director General by board chair Mary Mungai
