Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has said form one placement will be done before Christmas.

Kipsang said parents would have known the fate of their children before the festive season so that they may start preparing early enough for admission.

"I am sure we shall place our children in the secondary schools before we break for Christmas. I give that commitment that we shall do it," Kipsang said.

"We are opening schools for the continuing students on January 8, and within the shortest time we would want the others to join them as form ones."

The PS said before the end of January 2024, every learner should be in school.

Kipsang spoke on Wednesday at the Westlands Sub-County containers where he was addressing the press on the conclusion of the KCPE and KPSEA exams.

The PS said the marking process is set to commence immediately.

He said the ministry is going to prioritise the marking of KCPE exams to allow parents to get the results early and start preparations to send learners to high school.

On marking, he said, this year the ministry is better prepared this time, adding that markers will get their pay on time.

"We want to assure our examiners that this year, we shall be able to put out all payments that are due to them in good time," he said.

He termed the administration of the primary-level national exams a success adding that the multi-agency approach helped.

"We are already engaging to make sure all our children transit to the next level," Kipsang said.

Kipsang said the ministry is still on the lookout to ensure security remains tight till all the national exams are administered.

"The PS for Interior has given as that assurance that all is well. The Ministry of Interior and the Defence team are working to ensure our children are not disrupted as we go into secondary school exams next week," Kipsang said.

Kipsang lauded the exam centre managers, and the security teams for what he termed as a seamless exercise.

He said even if there were rains in northern parts of the country, all learners still sat their exams.

"There is no part of this country where we failed to administer exams because of logistical issues. Because we were well deployed, both on the ground and on the air to administer exams to our children," Kipsang said.
