A night guard was found murdered in a house he stayed in the Ruai area, Nairobi.
The victim identified as Rajab Osman, 26 was found lying on the floor with blood oozing from his mouth and nose.
Police said both legs and arms were tied with a rope and seemed to have been hit in the head.
It is suspected that ten jerricans of 20 litres of paint were stolen during the murder.
Police said they are investigating murder and robbery with violence in the November 1, incident.
The body was moved to the City mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

The man identified as Kevin Kingeenda died at a local hospital after he had been stabbed four times in the stomach, Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said.
He said the deceased and the woman had fought in their house before he was stabbed in the stomach and neck.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and prosecution of the woman.
Elsewhere a prison warden was found dead in his house at Nairobi Remand and Allocation prisons.
It is not clear what caused the death of Corporal David Musomba Nyambagacha in his house.
Police who visited the scene within the remand facility said there was blood oozing out of his mouth and nose.
There were no visible injuries seen at that moment, police said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe into the death.
And in Sigor, West Pokot, a man was arrested over the death of his wife. The victim Miriam Chebet died at Sigor subcounty hospital following injuries she sustained in the stomach.
The two had fought in their house before she was hit and later succumbed at the hospital.
Police said they are waiting for the postmortem report to establish how she died.
In Samburu, police said they are investigating an incident in which a 45-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and murdered.
The body of the woman was found on the roadside in Maralal Township long after she had died.
The killers are yet to be found, police said adding an investigation into the rape and murder had been opened.
