The New Testament Church of God-Kenya will hold its Annual General Meeting today at Moi Nairobi Girls High School, Nairobi.

The church will use the opportunity to hold its election of the eighth National Administrative Bishop of the church tomorrow.

The church’s structure is filled at Registrar of Societies Kenya, and those eligible must be ordained bishops who are in good standing with the institution.

“Only ordained bishops can be eligible for election, and those who can vote in the next Bishop must have a valid church identity card and the National Identity card. They must also be in good standing with church,” the church said.

The notice to call all ministers for the Annual General Meeting was issued last month.

The election will be by secret ballot, and the church has invited the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to oversee the exercise.

The church has never had elections since 1977, when all bishops were appointed.

To enhance its credibility, the election will be observed by all bishops in Eastern Africa and top leadership at the African Council.

“One way of demonstrating transparency which is an important element in the election is to have the process conducted in full glare of cameras and independent observers from interested partners and relevant authorities,” the statement said.
