The recent visit by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis to Kenya has strengthened relations between the two countries.
Romanian Ambassador to Kenya Gentiana Serbu praised the cordial relations between the two countries saying it was for the mutual benefit of their citizens.
She said the signing of MoUs in the fields of environmental protection and climate change; cooperation in sanitary, veterinary and food safety was a clear demonstration that the two nations were keen to uplift the lives of their people.
"The recent visit by our President to Kenya was a clear demonstration that the two countries are committed to strengthening their relations and cooperation in various areas of development for the mutual benefit of their people," said Serbu.
Diplomatic and bilateral relations between Kenya and Romania Republic have been growing over time with steady progress and opportunities being witnessed in trade and investment.
The Ambassador spoke Thursday in Nairobi during an occasion to mark Romanian independence day.
Serbu who was flanked by deputy head of mission Vasile Dumitru emphasized on world leaders to embrace peace and solve issues amicably.
She said insecurity challenges facing humanity should be addressed to avert the loss of innocent lives and destruction of property.
"There is a need for order in the world. Insecurity challenges facing humanity should be solved. Freedom of humanity and democracy be safeguarded," Serbu said.
She said international relations should promote peace and stability among all nations in the world.
"We must embrace peace in the entire world if progress in development has to be realized," Serbu said.
Director General, Political and Diplomatic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Moi Lemoshira praised the existing relations between Kenya and Romania.
"There are strong bonds of friendship between our two countries, which is of great benefit to our people," he said.
He said the recent MoUs signed marked a new area for the two nations as the move would boost bilateral relations.
"We share concerns on international security and that's why Kenya will soon send troops to Haiti to help restore peace in the country," Lemoshira said.
He also delivered a message of goodwill from the Prime Cabinet Secretary who is also Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
