Police are investigating an incident in which a senior police officer and his two children were injured after a concrete ceiling of his kitchen collapsed in Ngong, Kajiado County.
The incident happened at the newly constructed National Police Leadership Academy.
Inspector Musa Musungu, who stayed at one of the senior officer's apartments, was in the kitchen with his children when the kitchen concrete ceiling collapsed on Sunday evening.
As a result, his two children, aged seven and 13, and the officer were injured.
The victims were rushed to Ngong Sub County Hospital, where they were treated and discharged in fair condition, police said.
One child aged nine escaped unhurt.
An investigation has been launched into the incident with engineers visiting the scene.
The academy is one of the modern facilities for the National Police Service. It was commissioned early this year.
The Central Bank of Kenya constructed it to enhance leadership in the service.
New Jerusalem Church burnt
Elsewhere in Nairobi, police are investigating the cause of a fire that burnt down a section of New Jerusalem Church of Holy Spirit at Muthurwa estate.
Police said preliminary investigations show the fire was caused by an electric fault from one of the structures.
The fire spread fast and reduced 17 iron sheet-made structures to ashes.
Also burnt down was a public address system and other electronics.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are investigating the incident.
He said experts are on the ground to investigate if it was an incident of arson or accidental.
