Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah arrives for presidential debate at Catholic University of Eastern Africa on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah lost his cool on Saturday and lectured an MCA in Bungoma for disrespecting him during the burial of Lawrence Sifuna.

The late former MP Bumula MP was the paternal uncle of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The burial at his Siritanyi home in Bungoma County was attended by a host of leaders including Azimio la Umoja leader Raila odinga.

In his speech, the ward rep had alluded to Wajackoyah's pre-campaign push for legalisation of marijuana in Kenya in a manner the lawyer took offence.

In response, a visibly angry Wajackoyah told the MCA that he would forgive him for the utterances considering the ward rep holds a title he deems too little.

"First of all, pray for me because I have been told by someone that I smoke that thing but I will forgive him because he is still young, an MCA," he said.

The MCA made the remarks while calling for the unity of the Luhya nation and invited Wajackoyah to join the fray of uniting the populous community.

"Waluke kindly unite all the Members of Parliament in Western under Moses Wetang'ula. We want to speak in one voice as the Luhya nation. Wajackoyah wacha vitu zingine unakula, kuja, wewe ni mluhya omwami," he said.

Before giving the MCA a taste of his own medicine, Wajackoyah asked women, families and the clergy to pray for him.

The former presidential aspirant said his opinion on marijuana use is academically driven and his classmates and teacher present at the burial could attest and confirm that he did well in his studies.

"I'm now doing my 14th Degree, therefore, Bwana MCA rudi shule."

"I'm going to tell you people, someone might ask where all this madness of bhang came from. There is a governor here whom we studied with together and my teacher is also here," he added.

"Mheshimiwa Lusaka, ambia huyu MCA wako huyu twende bunge tukae chini, tupitishe katiba, tuwe na Wangamati Airport Bungoma."

(Hon Lusaka, tell your MCA. Let us go to Parliament and pass legislation so we have Wangamati Airport in Bungoma)

"Hapana kuzaliwa jana unakuja hapa kama bado uko na makamasi, unakuja hapa kusema Wajackoyah ni bhangi," he said.

(You were born just the other day, don't come here saying I use bhang)
