Former United States of America President Barack Obama has shared a list of 15 books he says were his favourite this year.
The former US President usually shares a list of songs, music and books he enjoyed throughout the year.
"As I usually do during this time of year, I wanted to share my favourite books, movies, and music of 2023. First up, here are the books I've enjoyed reading," Obama said on his X.com page on Friday.
Top five of Obama's favourite reads this year included; The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride; The Maniac by Benjamin Labatut; Poverty, by America by Matthew Desmond; How to Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair and The Wager by David Grann.
Obama urged that if one is looking for a new book over the festive season, then they should give the books a try.
"And if you can, shop at an independent bookstore or check them out at your local library," he said.
"What were some of your favourite books this year?"
Other books Obama enjoyed reading in 2023 were; Chip War by Chris Miller; The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff; Humanly Possible by Sarah Bakewell; King: A Life by Jonathan Eig; The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese and The Best Minds by Jonathan Rosen.
On July 21, Obama shared his summer music playlist.
"Here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new," Obama said.
The former President also sought feedback from his audience on which music he should add to his playlist.
"Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed," he said.
Among the top songs in Obama's summer playlist are 'Who told you' by Drake and 'Snooze' by Sza.
Obama also noted that he listens to Nigerian sensation Ayra Star's song 'Sability'.
His playlist had a mix of both old and new songs with artists like Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and Tina Turner making it to the list.
