National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss has advised 2023 KCSE students who will not score high grades in the examination not to be discouraged by their performance.

Speaking at Moi Girls in Eldoret during the release of the 2023 KCSE results, Gladys Boss urged students not to allow the outcome of the examination to define their lives.

“I always tell young people, that one result cannot define you. I was always a C student, probably even a D student when I started but I completed as a straight A student,” she said.

She said the students should know that at every stage, they have a chance to improve.

“I want to tell you that whatever result you get, it is not going to define you,” she added.

Boss recalled that when she sat for her Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) at Hill School, Eldoret, she was at the bottom of her class.

“I had the lowest mark at Hill School in that year, totally at the bottom. I could not get a place in secondary school,” she added.

She noted that she was however lucky to join Loreto School, Matunda.

“By the time I finished at Loreto, Matunda, I was top of my class and by the time I came to this school, I was right at the top,” she said.

Boss said the examining system must be made in such a way that it is not an elimination but an accommodation programme.

“Even the C students can be encouraged and have hope that things can change,” she added.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu released the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education results at Moi Girls, Eldoret on Monday morning.

The CS released the results in Eldoret after briefing President William Ruto at Eldoret State Lodge.

The KCSE exams began on October 23 and ended on November 24 with 903,260 candidates sitting the papers over the period.
