Musalia heads to China for a three-day official visit

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi leaves Kenya on a 3-day official visit to Beijing, China.

Mudavadi leaves the country at the invitation of Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi.

The visit by Mudavadi comes just a few months after President William Ruto led a delegation of Kenyan leaders to Beijing for the Third Belt and Road Forum, where agreements for cooperation in various fields were entered into

The two countries have undertaken to strengthen bilateral relations and jointly work towards building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Waeni murder probe: Focus moves to Ndenderu, Ruaka

Police were Monday allowed to hold two Nigerians in the probe into the murder of university student Rita Waeni Muendo.

A Makadara court granted police eight days to detain the two Nigerians identified as William Ovie Opia for eight days pending a probe into their possible involvement in the murder of the student.

The two were arrested in the Ndenderu area, Kiambu County on Sunday evening moments after the head of a woman was discovered at Ite Dam at Kimuga village in the area.

CBC petition: Court to mention the case

Court to mention the case in which advocate Nelson Havi is challenging the legality of CBC.

Havi has argued that the Ministry of Education could not “alter the system of education through sessional papers and policy decisions instead of legislation.”

He said CBC led to the disruption of the basic structure of the country’s education system and as a result interfered with the right to education.

Wa Iria’s graft case: Court to give directions

Anti-corruption court to give directions in a case in which EACC is seeking to recover over Sh543 million from former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria and his associates.

The former governor is accused of embezzling money and investing in properties belonging to his wife and associates.

The court has frozen assets worth Sh542 million associated with the former governor believed to have been acquired from proceeds of corruption.

Turkish lawmakers ratify Sweden’s bid to join Nato

Turkish MPs have ratified Sweden's bid to join Nato in a long-delayed vote that represents a big step forward on the Nordic nation's path to membership.

Sweden applied to join in 2022 after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, but Turkey withheld approval amid a row over what it called Sweden's support to Kurdish separatists.

AFCON: Final round of group-stage matches

Africa Cup of Nations 2023 have reached the final stage of their group-stage matches.

Eight teams will be in action today and play to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

Namibia will play Mali while South Africa faces Tunisia.
