A seven storey building that was still under construction within Rongo town in Migori county has collapsed.
Rescue operations are underway even as the number of people trapped in the rubble remains unknown as at this moment.
"We have escavators at the scene, ambulance on site, first responders are also there," Migori County Secretary, Oscar Olima, said.
He noted that already, one lady has been pulled from the r and rushed to the hospital.
Olima said they are yet to establish the number of people who were inside the building and who may still be trapped.
"We have people at the scene, there were some workers there, but as per now we still don't know how many are trapped," he said.
Rongo Subcounty Police Commander Salim Fundi said he is at the scene and will issue updates as rescue operations continue.
