Chief Justice Martha Koome has expressed her confidence and that of the entire Judicial sector to the new Chief Registrar.

Speaking during the swearing-in of Frida Mokaya on Monday at the Supreme Court, Koome assured her of their support as she takes her role.

"You have my full confidence and that of the entire Judiciary. We stand ready to support you and eagerly look forward to our collaborative efforts in pursuit of our shared vision as outlined in our institutional blueprint ‘Social Transformation through Access to Justice (STAJ)," she said.

"We will work with you and support you in the drive to ensure operational efficiency of the Judiciary."

Noting that she had worked with Mokaya for almost three years at the Judicial Service Commission, Koome said she knew well of her administrative skills, empathy, interpersonal capabilities, judiciousness, and integrity.

She observed that the Chief Registrar is well suited for what is required of her in the new role.

At the same time, Koome urged her to be a champion of institutional innovation and revitalisation, steering the Judiciary towards remaining fit for purpose and effective in a changing environment.

She acknowledged that Mokaya's agenda "The Road Ahead: A Calling to Deliver", pledges a commitment to facilitating and supporting the objective of delivering a people-centric justice system to Kenyans.

On her part, Mokaya noted that she will support the Judiciary in its role in implementing the STAJ Vision and the realisation of the goals for Kenya's good.

She notified the CJ and other judicial officers of her plan to start by cascading the blueprint throughout the institution to cultivate its deeper understanding and ownership.

She also made known her plan to push for law reform to address the emerging gaps in the administration of the Judiciary fund, engage with stakeholders on the funding of access to justice as a public good and enhance resource and assets management.

Further, she said she will work on streamlining the policy to results cycle and re-imagining the institutional administrative model to better align with their ideals of shared leadership and the constitutional value of decentralisation.

Mokaya welcomed both the internal and external stakeholders of the Judiciary for conversations and ideas on how the administration of the Judiciary can better support the execution of its core mandate and the implementation of the STAJ Blueprint.

"I particularly welcome other players and agencies in the administration of justice and external partners who have been part of our transformative journey over the past fourteen years," she said.

"I would like to thank you for the past support to the Judiciary administration, and I hope I can continue to count on you as we move forward on "The Road Ahead" and "My Calling To Deliver".
