President William Ruto has said the government will work with the Akorino church for national development.
He made the announcement after holding a meeting with the church leaders at State House, Nairobi, which Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also attended.
The Akorino Church delegation was led by Runyenjes MP Muchangi Karemba and the national chair of the Akorino Israel Organisation Bishop Petro Kamuyu.
Ruto revealed that through discussions, he learnt that the religious group intends to cultivate an investment avenue for the church followers.
"The religious group has embarked on an investment drive, especially the establishment of savings and credit cooperatives, for its members in the counties," Ruto said.
This, the President said, is a good initiative in which the State will partner with the church by offering financial literacy.
"The government will work with the church in training and building capacity in the management of Saccos," Ruto said.
The President noted that religious organisations have continued to put more effort in contributing towards the country's development.
"Religious organisations continue to make significant contributions to national development. They work closely with the government in the provision of education and training and health among others," Ruto said.
The government has continuously lauded the church's contribution to nation building, efforts it has supported through weekly visits by officials and donations.
First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto on March 11 called on the church to engage with the government, noting that the indulgence seeks to empower the public.
Speaking during a prayer breakfast in Nyeri, Mama Rachel said the event provided a remarkable opportunity for individuals from diverse interdenominational backgrounds to unite with a common purpose of empowering the public.
"The church can collaborate with the government to educate Kenyans about the opportunities presented by the government's numerous development programmes," she said.
The First Lady also attributed the growth of numerous national projects to the various churches in Kenya.
"The church in Kenya has been playing a significant role in nation-building, serving as a beacon of hope in our society through various projects, including schools, hospitals and various community programmes," she said.
Mama Rachel also acknowledged the church's significance in instilling values to the public in ending vices due to it's massive reach.
She urged the church and the clergy to continue working with the government.
