Mother's Day celebrations: Messages pour in for mothers

As the world marks Mother's Day this Sunday, messages to honour and celebrate the invaluable contributions of mothers continue to pour in.

From heartfelt tweets to poignant statements, politicians, celebrities, influencers and corporate organisations shared messages of gratitude and appreciation for the selfless love and sacrifices of mothers.

Top state officials also paused from their busy schedules to pay tribute to mothers in their own lives and to acknowledge the vital role they play in shaping societies.

On social media, hashtags #MothersDay and #ThankYouMom trended as people shared touching stories and photos, expressing their love and admiration for the women who have nurtured and supported them.

“It is a special day; Happy mother’s day,” Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua wrote, noting that a mother is a special bond that holds the family and our nation together.

“We are because of our mothers,” he added.

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto said the sacrifices, guidance and unconditional love of mothers has shaped the lives of many in various ways.

“Today we celebrate the backbone of our families, the pillars of our communities and the embodiment of love and strength,” she said.

“To every mother, grandmother, aunt and mother figure, thank you for all that you do. You are cherished beyond measure. May your day be filled with joy, appreciation and countless blessings,” added the First Lady.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki wished all mothers in Kenya and around the world a happy Mother's Day as well.

"For putting the interests of your children before yours, for the immense sacrifices you make for the well-being of families, and for the love of family and Country, thank you for prioritising what matters most," he said on X.

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen described mothers as the rock and lifeline of families, communities and nation.

“On this special day and in this back-to-school season, let us celebrate the gift of life. I urge all road users to demonstrate their love and gratitude to our mothers by adhering to traffic rules so that all the young people reach school safely. Drivers should especially avoid speeding. Remember road safety is a collective responsibility,” he said.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in his message described mothers as priceless, special and beautiful and capped it with a personal message to wife Pauline.

"Mama Pauline, I sincerely appreciate all that you do for our family. You serve as our compass, inspiration and rock. May your day be filled with joy, laughter and the warmth of family," he said.

The Kenya Red Cross also remembered mothers whose lives have been disrupted by the floods across the country saying their resilience shines bright.

"Wishing all mothers a day filled with love and appreciation,” it wrote.

Council of Governors' chairperson, Anne Waiguru, in a statement said the love, strength and sacrifices of mothers is truly appreciated and celebrated today and every day.

"You are the pillars of our society, the ones who nurture, inspire and empower us and today, we celebrate you," she stated.

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) wrote: "To all the incredible moms out there, whether you're traveling through our airports or working behind the scenes to keep our skies safe, we honor you. Your unwavering love, sacrifices, and endless support inspire us every day."
