Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to stand with his boss President William Ruto to the end amid widening cracks in Kenya Kwanza.

The DP who spoke in Ruto's Bomet heartland on Sunday told the country that just like he supported Ruto during his most difficult time, he would remain loyal.

Gachagua said he would continue being a loyal and respectful adviser to the head of state in accordance with his oath of office despite claims by his critics he is undermining his boss.

''The day Ruto wanted a man to stand with him in Mount Kenya, I was there, I am still there, I will stand with the president until the end... The way to help him is to tell him what the ground is saying,'' Gachagua said.

The DP was attending a church service in Kaplong, a few kilometres from Lolgorian where his boss was worshipping.

Gachagua had last week attacked the country's spymaster Noordin Haji, telling him to resign over alleged incompetence.

Since then, Gachagua has come under immense pressure from his critics to resign.

However, on Sunday, Gachagua insisted that he would continue being truthful and respectful to his boss over the situation in the country.

''I am not as busy as the president, I have an opportunity to listen to the ground, a few people in government have a problem with that but I can't change,'' he said.

Gachagua expressed optimism that the Kenya Kwanza administration will work together to sort out the challenges facing Kenyans.

''We cannot pretend and look for space goats, we must address the issues that are making Kenyans uncomfortable, we will do whatever it takes to address the few challenges that are in the country until we succeed.''

Regarding the President's roadmap to engage Kenyans and the young people after days of deadly protests over the Finance Bill, 2024, Gachagua said he is committed to the course.

''Outside the framework that the president has created, I will also engage the young people,'' Gachagua said.

''The President has created a mechanism to talk with the youth and I have even asked the Gen Z in my house, that I will start listening.''

He said the young people are an integral constituency in the country that cannot be ignored.

''These children cannot be ignored by anybody, they are part of our lives, whenever they have issues we can't ignore them, we must listen to them,'' he said.

''We will listen to them and I want to thank my boss that he applied his mind to listening to the young people and the majority of Kenyans and saying let's reject the Finance bill and start talks.''

The DP also challenged MPs who voted YES for the Finance Bill to freely express themselves to Kenyans and seek forgiveness as he will no longer be defending them.

''Do not fear the people who elected you, if you ask for forgiveness they will forgive you, I will not talk on their behalf, people have told me to stay away,'' he said.
