Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has said the recent Gen Z-led anti-Finance Bill protests in the country should serve as a reawakening call to the government.

Speaking during Senate proceedings on Wednesday, Osotsi said that the recent protests have marked a moment that requires leaders to utilise, reflect and reset.

The lawmaker said the youth have raised issues they want to be addressed and asked the government to implement them.

"This a moment we require to reflect and reset our nation, the Senate, National Assembly and all state organs in general so that they comply with the wishes of Kenyans," he said.

"When we reflect, I think much reflection has to be pointed at Parliament."

He urged his fellow members and the speaker to reconstitute standing orders so that all parliamentary group meetings are held before Parliament

Last week, anti-Finance Bill protesters breached Parliament and torched part of it in unprecedented rage against the 2024 Finance Bill.

The protesters also torched several vehicles belonging to the Police as tension escalated outside the country’s legislature.
