President William Ruto dismissed all cabinet secretaries and the Attorney General except the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in a national address on Thursday.

"Upon reflection, listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after a holistic appraisal of the performance of my Cabinet and its achievements and challenges, I have, in line with the powers given to me by Article 152(1) and 152(5)(b) of the Constitution and Section 12 of the Office of the Attorney-General Act, decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs," he said

Leaders across the different political divides took to their social media pages to give their reactions following the president's move to dissolve the cabinet.

"Sacking all the Cabinet Secretaries is a solid start," Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna posted on X.

"Thanking the President of Kenya, William Ruto for making a decisive decision to dissolve the cabinet. The president needs an effective cabinet, which will be aimed at actualizing the Kenya Kwanza Government agenda," Senator Tabitha Mutinda posted on X.

While addressing the nation from State House, Nairobi, Ruto assured the nation that operations of government will continue uninterrupted under the guidance of principal secretaries.
