Former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has insisted she is still in government even after President William Ruto left her out of his new Cabinet lineup.

Jumwa was until her sacking on July 11 the Gender and Culture CS.

Ruto has since nominated 10 of her former colleagues back to Cabinet.

The President is, however, yet to nominate the Attorney General and the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development.

In clip circulating online at a public event, Jumwa said she is part of the team that formed the Kenya Kwanza government and would not be leaving to join another group.

“I want to tell those who are calling me all the time saying I was dumped by the President, mimi siko soko (I'm not on the market). I was among those who formed this government and I'm still in government, I will remain in government. I'm not going anywhere,” she told a rally at the Coast on Friday.

Jumwa added that she will remain with Ruto because she believes and trusts him.

Former CSs who were left out in Ruto's new-look Cabinet include Njuguna Ndung’u (National Treasury), Ababu Namwamba (Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports), Florence Bore (Labour and Social Protection), Zacharia Njeru (Water and Irrigation), Mithika Linturi (Agriculture and Livestock), Susan Nakhumicha (Health), Moses Kuria (Public Service), Eliud Owalo (ICT), Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Simon Chelugui (Cooperatives) and Peninah Malonza (East African Community).

Those nominated for reappointment include Kithure Kindiki(Interior), Rebecca Miano (Tourism and Wildlife), Kipchumba Murkomen (Sports and Youth Affairs, Alfred Mutua (Labour and Social Protection), Justin Muturi (Public Service), Alice Wahome (Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development), Aden Duale (Environment, Climate Change and Forestry), Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport ), Salim Mvurya (Investments, Trade and Industry), Soipan Tuya (Defence) and Musalia Mudavadi (Foreign Affairs and Prime Cabinet Secretary).

With just two more posts to fill in the Cabinet, those who have not been nominated know their chances of making a comeback are slim.
