Party of National Unity (PNU) leader Peter Munya has said he is not ready to take up any job in President William Ruto’s government.

Munya insisted that he is comfortable remaining in the opposition to continue to play his oversight role rather than support the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He, however, clarified that he has neither been approached nor offered any job in the government.

“I have not been offered any job and even if I am offered I will decline. I think I am better off working with the people to bring the changes that they require than going in there to strengthen a government that people have a lot of issues with,” he said.

Last week, Ruto nominated for appointment to the “broad-based government” four members from Raila Odinga’s ODM party.

They are Hassan Joho (Mining and Blue Economy), John Mbadi (Treasury), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperative and SMEs) and Opiyo Wandayi (Energy).

There are reports that the head of state is also considering appointing additional members from the opposition to various key government offices.

Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa (DAP), are the other top Azimio bigwigs who have already rejected any planned appointments in the government.

"I want to make it clear that I have no intentions of joining the Kenya Kwanza government. We can all see what is happening in this government. I cannot join that government. Something suspicious is happening there and even President Ruto knows. He has offered me some positions but I can not join him," Kalonzo said.

Wamalwa, the former Defence Cabinet Secretary, on his part said he is not interested in any position including in any capacity as that of the Attorney General or Cabinet Secretary.

“What I want Ruto cannot give me. I cannot get a job in Ruto’s government. I don’t want to be one of his ministers, and I don’t want his money," he said.

He stated that he would not even contemplate taking up the AG position, saying it would amount to a downgrade having served as Justice Minister after the promulgation of the 201o Constitution.

"The AG's office was a department in my ministry when I served as Justice Minister during the implementation of the Constitution, how can it be that after being a minister, I be demoted to a departmental head?" he posed.
