Embattled UDA secretary general Cleophas Malalah now claims two senior UDA officials were behind plans to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
He alleged that the two officials want the Deputy President out so that they can strategically position themselves within the emerging political re-alignments.
Malalah said this is one of the 18 reasons the two also want him out of the ruling party.
“I will be disclosing the other 17 issues against them in due course, including and not limited to documentary evidence of efforts by the two, with their accomplices, to defraud the party, as well as manufacturing minutes of non-existent party meetings, and forging the signatures of the Deputy President and myself, in attempts to access the party’s bank accounts,” he stated.
Malalah linked his purported ouster from the party to his ties with Gachagua.
“My ouster by the two officials had nothing to do with incompetence or my inability to run the UDA party, but was a well-choreographed script intended to climax with the impeachment of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua,” he claimed.
He further claimed that the planned impeachment of the Deputy President had nothing to do with President William Ruto, the broad-based government or any other narrative the coup plotters have advanced.
Malalah added that the two senior UDA officials are aligning themselves for the 2027 elections.
“Sadly, this internal coup was plotted and executed by senior party officials who are otherwise expected to protect and uphold the same constitution,” he claimed.
Malalah said his alleged removal was outright unlawful, unfair and a sheer blatant contravention of the party constitution and laid down due processes.
Addressing a press conference, Malala stated that he was convicted and sentenced without trial because his aggressors had nothing against him.
“Neither were any charges preferred against me in public or in private, to warrant and justify my removal nor was I allowed to defend myself as required by law and the rules of natural justice,” he claimed.
Malalah said he has forwarded a petition contesting his purported removal as Secretary General, to the party’s Internal Disputes Resolution Committee (IDRC) for adjudication.
“I confirm my availability for hearing and presentation of my case as and when required,” he stated.
Malalah said will not hesitate to move an open court if he does not get justice from the party’s IDRC.
