Nandi man arrested after clobbering wife to death

The man took the woman to hospital where she succumbed to the injuries

A 33-year-old man was arrested after his wife succumbed to assault injuries she sustained in a domestic fight in Sile village, Nandi County.

The man took the now deceased Irene Jelimo, 30, to hospital after she had suffered injuries in the August 15 incident.

Police said the two had quarrelled and fought at home before the woman was hit in the head and fell unconscious.

The husband took her to Kapsabet Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries.

Police officers visited the hospital, and found the lifeless body with injuries in the morgue.

The body was then taken to Nandi Hills Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Police said the suspect was later arrested pending arraignment.

Elsewhere in Gathiuru Sub Location, Nyeri County, a 96-year-old woman was killed by stabbing in a bizarre incident.

Police said they visited the scene and found the lifeless body of Zipporah Kajuju with a cut on the left cheek and multiple stab wounds on the chest and back inflicted by a sharp object.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known so far.

Police said they are investigating the murder in the incident and that the body was moved to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
