Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo on Tuesday launched a political book titled Rig or be Rigged.

The MP dedicated the book in the memory of her mother, Damaris Auma Odhiambo, who she said inspired her journey into politics.

“I dedicate this book to the memory of my mother Damaris Auma Odhiambo, an exceptional leader “who had no title” and to the memory of my father, Harrison Odhiambo Opiyo, from whom I must have picked the political bug,” Millie said in a statement on X.

The book launch was attended by a host of luminaries including politicians, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.

Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi and his Environment counterpart Aden Duale were also in attendance.

Duale said they witnessed the birth of a story that will inspire the next generation of leaders and expressed a desire for more leaders to follow in Millie’s footsteps by penning their journeys in politics.

“Congratulations to Hon Millie Odhiambo on the launch of her debut book. This remarkable work takes readers behind-the-scenes of political life, shedding light on national issues like election dynamics and parliamentary debates, where she has consistently demonstrated exemplary performance,” the former Garissa Township MP and Leader of Majority in the National Assembly said.

Karua also congratulated the outspoken MP for the launch of her debut book saying she was pleased with the achievement.

“I look forward to a great read,” Karua said on X, to which Millie replied: “Thank you, my sister. You are the epitome of sisterhood.”

Millie was first nominated as a Member of Parliament in 2007 by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and then elected in the 2013 Kenyan general election as Mbita MP.

The MP, a staunch Raila Odinga supporter, retained the seat in the subsequent two past elections in 2017 and 2022 on the ODM ticket as the people’s representative in the National Assembly in the current Suba North constituency.
