Haiti Prime Minister of Haiti Garry Conille on Saturday visited the National Police College Embakasi "A" Campus, where he addressed the Officers currently on pre-deployment training in readiness for the next deployment to Haiti Mission.
Conille expressed his gratitude to Kenyans for the sacrifice and support extended to his people.
He said he was looking forward to personally seeing the NPS Officers in Haiti.
The PM is in the country for a four-day official visit.
Contingents of Kenyan police were deployed in Haiti since June to help the Caribbean nation’s police force contain marauding gangs that have laid siege to large swathes of the impoverished country.
Conille began his day by visiting NPS Headquarters at Jogoo House “A” accompanied by Labour CS Alfred Mutua, where he was received by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja.
At the police college, IG Kanja stated that the 600 Officers currently training at the college are drawn from specialised NPS Units including GSU, ASTU, RDU and the all-female Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).
He assured them that they would soon be ready for deployment to Haiti.
Kanja appreciated the PM for visiting NPS, noting that the visit strengthens the continued cooperation and commitment that MSS has had with the Haitian National Police in our collective efforts to achieve lasting peace and security in Haiti.
Present were the National Security Adviser Monica Juma, DIG Kenya Police Eliud Lagat, DIG Administration Police Gilbert Masengeli, and the DCI Mohamed Amin and Senior NPS Commanders.
