Two arrested after 23 pupils sit 'fake' KPSEA exams

Police in Eldoret have arrested a director and principal of a private school for allegedly failing to register 23 pupils for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams.

Uasin Gishu County Police boss Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the arrest of the two officials of the school located in Kimumu, Eldoret.

According to Mwanthi, parents at the school had on Monday complained after their children missed the KPSEA exams but were told by the managers that the exam had been misplaced.

On Tuesday the Grade 6 pupils were allegedly subjected to fake exams raising suspicion from parents who called in police and education officials.

Mwanthi alleged the school with an enrolment of 279 pupils was operating illegally because it is not registered by the Ministry of Education.

“We have arrested the director and the principal over exam malpractices and operating the school illegally,” Mwanthi said.

He said the school was located in a poor environment and would be shut down by education officials.
