President William Ruto has challenged his new deputy Kithure Kindiki to ensure the government delivers on the promises it made to Kenyans.

Speaking during Kindiki’s swearing in at KICC on Friday, Ruto reiterated the commitment of the Kenya Kwanza government to transform the country.

He said even though there might have been challenges in the past, especially with the Universal Health Coverage agenda, he has a team that will deliver on the promises made, including his new deputy.

“Our Universal Health Coverage is underway, with a bit of challenge initially but now we are moving, and I want to tell the people of Kenya, that we are going to transform this nation, and we have the team. Professor, welcome to the team that is going to transform Kenya into a great nation that is going to make every Kenyan proud,” Ruto said.

He added: “We have what it takes to transform the Republic of Kenya, and I am going to make sure that whatever it takes, whatever decisions that have to be made, we will make them so that our nation can truly be transformed.”

Ruto highlighted several reasons why he chose Kindiki as his Deputy President.

He described the new Deputy President as a tireless public servant on the path of national leadership.

Ruto said Kindiki is a patriot whose dedication to cohesion, national unity and inclusivity is beyond reproach.

Kindiki has been sworn in as Kenya’s third Deputy President under the new Constitution.

He was sworn in on Friday following the lifting of orders that had delayed the process for about two weeks.

He was received with cheers as he stood to take his oath of office

He succeeds former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who was impeached.

Before his nomination by President William Ruto, Kindiki served as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration.
