President William Ruto on Friday highlighted several reasons as to why he chose Kithure Kindiki as his Deputy President.

Speaking shortly after Kindiki took his oath of office, Ruto said he has known Kindiki as a dedicated professional whose commitment to excellence has helped the country overcome daunting challenges.

“I am proud to witness the swearing of Professor Abraham Kithure Kindiki as the third Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya under the 2010 Constitution,” he said.

He described the new Deputy President as a tireless public servant on the path of national leadership.

Ruto said Kindiki is a patriot whose dedication to cohesion, national unity and inclusivity is beyond reproach.

He went on to say that Kindiki is an effective champion of peace and stability as well as a loyal steward of our Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, that the Kenya Kwanza administration collectively drafted to help take our country to the next level.

“Over the last two decades, I have had the privilege to witness Professor Kindiki's work as a professor, litigation lawyer, consulting attorney, senator representing Tharaka Nithi, Majority leader and Deputy Speaker of the Senate and most recently as Cabinet Secretary.

“I can confirm that in all these roles he has demonstrated exceptional dedication, high competence and professionalism and consistently delivered results beyond expectations,” Ruto said.

He further said Kindiki's career has been defined by exemplary achievements that demonstrate his vision for positive change.

The President said the people of Kenya require a patriot public servant and a constitutional champion to support the presidency to deliver to the people on time.

He said the DP’s office needed someone who was experienced enough to understand the importance of engaging all sectors of the economy to drive transformation.

“This moment calls for an individual who take pride in a job well done and is humble enough to be a loyal servant of the people and who is selfless enough to reach out and mobilise the entirety of government towards delivering for Kenya.

“I am delighted to affirm that our coalition and indeed our nation is blessed with many professionals who meet these criteria, among them Abraham Kithure Kindiki who stands out for his exceptional qualifications, extensive experience and wide-ranging accomplishments. I am honored that he is available, willing and ready to serve as my deputy,” Ruto added.
