Professor Patricia Kameri Mbote, one of the referees of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has explained why she believes he is the best man for the job.
According to Mbote, having worked with Kindiki at the University of Nairobi, she knows that he is loyal, a quality that is needed for his new job.
“I have worked with Kindiki, and I know he is loyal and being loyal is a good quality for a deputy because the deputy many times has no existence out of the principal. If a deputy starts to have an existence out of the principal, then it means there is no alignment of the vision and mission,” she said.
Mbote said she is confident Kindiki will bring in a wealth of knowledge to the office of the Deputy President.
She added that she expects the new Deputy President to continue doing well as he has done in other places he has worked.
“I know Prof Kindiki will bring a lot of weight as a thinker, a person who is a profound thought leader. He will bring a lot to that space and I expect him to perform exemplary as he has all his life.”
The former colleague said she knows Kindiki as a team player and despite the country being big he will do well.
She said the new DP is very easy to work with and knows has to go about even difficult situations.
“He is a very easy person to get on with. He is what I'd call an old head on young shoulders and knows how to navigate even very difficult spaces without loading it on people. In working with him I found him to be a person who keeps his word. he's diligent.”
Mbote advised Kindiki to continue being who he is and align his value with what he has studied all the years and help Kenya move to the next level.
“I would advise Kindiki to continue being a man who is
humble, who is loyal and who knows the best interest of the country… to not sit
around thinking about where he would be if he was not where he is. Just put
your hand to the plough and work. The work of a deputy is to support the
principal and that is what he should do.”
