Two Moi University students have drowned while swimming in an abandoned water-filled quarry near the main campus in Uasin Gishu.
Kesses area police boss Charles Chacha said the two male students were alone at the time of the incident at the quarry located just next to the college.
He said the bodies of the students had been retrieved and taken to a morgue in Eldoret town.
“We are investigating the incident and will give full details later," said Chacha.
The university is expected to be reopened on Friday after a one-month closure due to a strike by workers.
The deceased students are from within the location of the university.
