KCSE 2024: Candidates to sit Maths, English papers Tuesday

The candidates will be sitting for two papers a day, except on Fridays when they will tackle the practical papers.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education has entered Day 2.

Candidates are expected to sit for Mathematics Paper 1 in the morning, and later on in the afternoon, they will write the English comprehension paper.

On Monday, the candidates sat for the English Functional Skills paper during the morning hours, while Chemistry Paper 1 in the afternoon.

The exam started on October 22, where the candidates took their oral and practical exams for the elective subjects.

The candidates will be sitting for two papers a day, except on Fridays when they will tackle the practical papers.

According to the KNEC 2024 KCSE examination timetable, the last day of the national exams will be November 22, when the candidates will sit the Physics practical.

Over 900,000 students are sitting for the exams across the county.

On Monday, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migosi warned against malpractice saying offenders will face the law.

“We are not going to bend or apologise for insisting that we need to have credible examinations in this country. Education is key and let us not disobey the regulations we have put in place,” he said.

He said it is only fair to let the learners get the results that they worked for, and not help them cheat.

“Let us all do the right thing to ensure that we give these children a chance. You can imagine the joy a student will have when they get their results knowing they did not cheat,” he said.

Migosi invited the public to report any form of malpractice and disobeying the regulations that have been put down so that action can be taken.

Recalling the incident that was reported in Eldoret during the KPSEA exams, Migosi urged the court to speed up the justice process.

 “We have requested the judiciary to ensure that within the next month or so, that case can be completed,” he said.

Interior CS Raymond Omollo acknowledged that the security situation during the exam period has been satisfactory so far, with no serious incidents reported.

On his part, PS Omollo said the security agencies have provided a conducive environment for all our students to succeed.

He acknowledged the effort that education stakeholders, noting that the government is proud of the teachers, parents and students.

“I want to sincerely thank you on behalf of my colleague PS for Education Belio Kipsang together with Education CS Julius Migos. We really appreciate the work you continue to do,” Omollo said.
