North Alego Usonga community experienced a unique Christmas after they benefited from a series of health focused activities organised by the Ndege Community Resource Centre.
Attorney General Dorcas Oduor is the patron of the centre.
The Christmas drive focused on hygiene, education, sports and spirituality.
Center Director James Ndege noted that during the hygiene drive, they treated jiggers, shaved people, conducted deforming exercise and counselled the locals on issues of hygiene.
"We have been running hygiene drives for the past four years, and this year’s event is special because we are doing it during Christmas. Our main focus is on improving the lives of children and all community members," Ndege said.
The activities were carefully designed to address various issues affecting the local community.
"Our goal is to improve the quality of life for our people by focusing on hygiene, health, and overall well-being," Ndege added.
Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, who visited the centre during the event, praised the AG for her generosity and commitment to the community.
"This is a remarkable initiative by the Attorney General. Her support has made this possible and we are very grateful for her continued dedication to improving the lives of our people," Atandi said.
The area MP revealed that in the continuation of the community support efforts, on December 27, the Attorney General, through various government agencies, will provide a range of services to the people of Alego Usonga at Nina Primary School grounds.
"This event will bring government services closer to the community," Atandi explained.
The services to be offered during the event include birth registration, issuance of certificates of good conduct, medical treatment and assistance with applying for national IDs and passports.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for the people here to access important services without having to travel far," Atandi added.
The event will also feature a medical camp, with doctors and health professionals offering treatment for various ailments.
"We will have a team of medical professionals to provide free consultations and treatments," Atandi noted.
He noted that the Cabinet Secretary for Health Deborah Barasa and his Energy counterpart Opiyo Wandayi will also grace the occasion.
