The Wakagoto Foundation hosted its annual Christmas Treat event, spreading joy and service to thousands of residents in the region.
The event marked the day of unity, fun, and community service that is identified it in its commitment to adding value to the lives of Embu residents.
The foundation is founded by renowned Embu industrialist, businessman, and philanthropist Kenjava Wakagoto.
Addressing attendees during the event Wakagoto said:
"This foundation is built on the fact that one person can rise, and the whole community can rise with them. This event is just one of the ways we strive to create opportunities for everyone to feel seen, valued, and supported."
The Christmas Treat, which is in its second edition, was held in Kairuri Stadium, Ruguru Ngandori Ward, and had an estimated 10,000 attendees.
The residents enjoyed fun activities such as bouncing castles with pool tables for joyful moments for the young generation.
“The Christmas Treat represents the commitment of the Wakagoto Foundation to the inculcation of a culture of giving and service among the residents of Embu,” Wakagoto said.
“By addressing both immediate needs and long-term development, the foundation has ensured that its efforts leave a lasting impact on generations to come.”
The foundation has actively participated in empowering Embu citizens through youth empowerment programs, which plan to equip the youth with skills and opportunities that could promise them better futures.
They also organize healthcare campaigns in which they join hands with the local health providers to arrange for medical camps, offering free consultations and treatments.
In providing educational support, they sponsor students from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as provision of learning materials to schools.
They also conduct entrepreneurship development where they provide training and mentorship programs that aim to help small-scale traders and businesses thrive in Embu.
During the Christmas treat, attendees were given parcels to take home with them.
The Wakagoto Foundation seeks to expand its programs to include environmental conservation projects, digital literacy in the countryside, and an introduction to micro-grants for women-led enterprises in Embu.
