The Republican Party has taken control of the United States Senate after flipping several Democrat-held seats red in key states.
According to AP, the Republicans already have a 51 majority lead in the Senate election.
The red party has flipped two seats that were previously held by Democrats.
The US Senate is comprised of 100 members.
More results are still coming in even though the Republicans already have a majority.
The new Republican majority will take power in January 2025 shortly before the presidential inauguration.
Having a majority means that the party will have sweeping new powers in the Senate including deciding what comes up for debate.
It also means that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's leadership has come to an end with the Republicans expected to elect their own.
In the Presidential election, Donald Trump has taken a tentative lead over Kamala Harris in several of the swing states that will decide who becomes the next president of the United State.
Trump has won conservative strongholds from his home state of Florida to Montana, while Kamala Harris is sweeping liberal bastions from New York to Colorado.
Whichever way it goes the result will be historic - either giving America its first woman president or marking a seismic political comeback for Trump.
Polls have closed in most of the country, including Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania - the seven swing states expected to determine the outcome.
