Kindiki to police: I’ll never forget your patriotic sacrifices

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said that he will never forget the patriotic sacrifices Kenyan security officers make, even as he exits the Interior and National Administration Ministry.

In his address, Kindiki said that over the last two years, nothing has given him a greater sense of fulfillment than the long days and humid nights spent with officers protecting the country.

He insisted that because of them, Kenya is now much safer.

“To our gallant security officers who paid the ultimate price with their limb or life to keep Kenya safe, I salute you and promise that Kenya will never forget your valour and patriotic sacrifice. May the souls of the officers who have lost their lives in the protection of our homeland and its people find perpetual rest in eternity.

“As I relinquish the leadership of the Interior Ministry, I am proud to report that save for a few inevitable losses, Lamu and North Eastern Kenya are much safer and calmer today than the situation was during the last half of 2022,” Kindiki said.

The DP said the achievements he had at the Interior Ministry was because of the all the members of staff.

Kindiki, however, said that he will take responsibility for any failures during his tenure.

“Any performance inadequacies during my tenure are mine because I believe the Ministry staff and officers did their best.”

He further noted that it has been the honour of his life to oversee a coordinated and policy-driven war against terrorists, and to visit elite police units protecting Kenya and its people at some of the most dangerous locations in the country.

“Each moment I had a chat or shared a meal or even took a selfie with security officers in the frontline of the war against terror, there was always a profound surge of pride in the knowledge that a dedicated and patriotic cohort of our security forces remain alert day and night to prevent terrorists and other dangerous criminals from accessing Kenya to cause harm to its people,” Kindiki added.

He officially began his duties as Deputy President on Thursday.
