Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Monday held discussions with Western Region Regional Commissioner Samson Macharia and his team in Kakamega Town.

The discussion focused on security and digital transformation initiatives in the region.

Mudavadi underscored the necessity of security as the bedrock of a nation’s sovereignty, peace, and stability.

 "Security is the very bedrock of a sovereign nation, ensuring peace and stability for the protection of its peoples and their values," said Mudavadi.

During the meeting, Mudavadi assessed the region's present security dynamics as well as the continuing efforts made to ensure the safety of the public.

The briefing included detailed information about the security landscape, with highlights on crime hotspots and challenges facing the region.

The meeting further deliberated on proactive measures taken to ensure a peaceful Jamhuri Day and festive season.

Mudavadi was briefed that the security team recovered 150 stolen cows from the counties of Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, and Vihiga within the last month.

"On the ICT front, I was impressed to learn about recent efforts to connect schools and a hospital to fibre and Wi-Fi, empowering young people with access to digital skills training and online opportunities. Such initiatives underscore the region’s forward-thinking approach to digital transformation," Mudavadi said.

Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, as well as Principal Secretaries John Tanui (ICT), Edward Kisiangani (Broadcasting and Telecommunications), and Madam Beatrice Inyangala (Higher Education) and Eng. Maureen Mwaniki, Public Affairs Manager at Huawei Kenya were also present during the visit.
