The entertainment session of Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi, on Thursday, took Kenyans down memory lane of Old Skool hits that refreshed the youthful years of many millennials.
The choice of artists and songs sung deliberately aligned with the day of the event; Throwback Thursday or TBT.
TBT is an internet trend used among social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to post nostalgia-inducing content from different eras of one's life.
Leaders present led by President William Ruto and Kenyans who thronged the venue rose to their feet to burn the dance floor as the legendary artists took the stage one after the other.
The artists who included Radio Africa's presenterGidi Gidi, Maji Maji, Rapper Collo, P-Unit (Frasha, Boneye, and Gabu), Jaguar, Daddy Owen, Esther Wahome, Jua Cali, DNA, Mejja, Madtraxx, Habib and Mr Lenny among others gave eclectic performances yet that pushed the majority of those present to sing along.
Some of the popular hits performed were Ubwogable, Kioo, Kwaheri, Kuna Dawa, Tuendele, You Guy and Fimbo ya Pili among others.
