Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga has urged the business community to explore new opportunities in the Lakeside city, citing its favorable environment for investors.
Wanga emphasised that Kisumu has made significant strides in creating a favorable environment for both local and foreign investors, with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
He noted that the county government values investors for their role in driving the local economy, creating jobs, and enhancing trade.
"We are committed to making Kisumu a business-friendly city that supports both established and new enterprises and we welcome more investors to join us in this growth journey," Wanga said.
Speaking during the opening of a new City Walk outlet at United Mall in Kisumu, Wanga noted that businesses like City Walk provide employment opportunities for the locals.
"Our goal is to continue fostering a conducive environment where businesses can thrive and contribute to the prosperity of our people," he added.
The Assistant County Commissioner, who represented the county commissioner at the event Daniel Otieno, reassured investors about the security situation in the city.
Kisumu had recently faced concern about rising insecurity, leading to fears that some businesses might relocate or shut down.
Otieno noted that the city was under constant surveillance, especially during this festive season.
"We want to assure the people that Kisumu is safe and the opening of this new Store is a strong indication of that," he said.
City Walk Operations Manager Margaret Lyani expressed her excitement about the growing market in Kisumu.
She said they are pleases with the purchasing power and look toward to further expanding their presence in the region.
Lyani explained that City Walk which started in 1991 with just one branch now operates 31 branches across the country.
The opening of the new outlet is seen as another step in Kisumu's ongoing efforts to attract and improve its economic landscape.
