The Star Person of the Year 2024 will be unveiled on Friday.
The winner of the prestigious award will be made known through the Star Newspaper Friday edition.
The Star received nominations for Kenyans or leaders whose efforts this year have influenced activities or events that have changed lives.
Since 2018, the paper has been running the award, recognising personalities whose work has had a positive impact on their communities or the nation.
The winner of the prestigious “Star Person of the Year” is always unveiled in December, days before Christmas.
Four broad guidelines helped in settling on the eventual winner.
The nominations required people who engaged in activities to make Kenya or their community a better place to live and work.
They must also have inspired or helped fellow citizens, inventing a solution that has dramatically changed lives and has the qualities of honesty and integrity.
The paper’s political editor, Felix Olick, who also chairs the award’s committee, rallied Kenyans to nominate the best.
This year has been eventful, with happenings heralding huge impacts for the country and that the people behind these events make good candidates for recognition.
Star news editor, Jillo Kadida, said the award is intended to celebrate people who put extra effort to bring positive change to their communities and hence will encourage them to do more in the coming year.
Previous winners include ast year’s recipient, Faith Kipyegon and 2022 winner National Cohesion and Integration Commission’s Wambui Nyutu.
