The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a partial closure of Kipande Road in Nairobi for at least three days.
The closure, according to the authority, will be to allow for the installation of a cross culvert on the said road.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Kipande Road will be partially closed on Single Bound at a time on diversion to Ngara Road. The closure will commence on Friday, December 27, 2024, to Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
“This closure will enable installation of the cross culvert at Kipande Road so as to facilitate seamless connection in line with the Authority's mandate,” KeNHA said in a notice to the public.
All traffic will be diverted through the Embu-Nairobi Highway/Prof. Wangari Maathai Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, and Kolobot Road as an alternative route during this period.
The authority has also urged motorists to exercise caution around the work zones and to follow the proposed traffic management plan.
The announcement comes a few days after KeNHA announced the closure of a section of the Southern Bypass for the next two weeks.
The closure would affect the section on both sides of the road from the Ole Sereni Interchange to the Ngong Road Interchange.
The closure, according to KeNHA was to facilitate rehabilitation of the expansion joints of all the bridges along the closed section.
It would also allow for the reconstruction of the concrete pavement of the Virtual Weighbridge.
“This is to enable the rehabilitation of the expansion joints of all the bridges along the closed section as well as reconstruction of concrete pavement of the Virtual Weighbridge. The closure will commence on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 8 pm to Sunday, January 5, 2025, midnight,” the Authority said.
