They were joined by former Prime Minister and African Union
Commission (AUC) chairperson candidate Raila Odinga.
Ruto pledged that Kenya will enhance her relations with
Ghana to include more sectors in trade and investment, agriculture, mining,
tourism, oil and gas.
He noted that this will broaden opportunities for the people
of the two countries and ensure their shared prosperity.
The leaders discussed the expansion of intra-African trade
under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Mahama was also briefed on Raila’s candidature and declared his support. Ruto is set to attend Mahama’s swearing-in in Accra in January.
"Thanked him for declaring his support for Hon Raila Odinga‘s African Union Commission chairperson candidature. Also agreed to attend his swearing-in in Accra next month," President Ruto said.
Raila on his part said, "I had the privilege of joining President William Ruto in hosting Ghana's President-elect, @JDMahama. We expressed our appreciation for his visit and used the opportunity to update him of my campaigns and vision for the African Union Commission Chairperson."
