Anxiety and joy has filled the Igembe constituency as the area Member of Parliament John Paul Mwirigi on Saturday revealed a Huduma Centre will be erected in the region.

The MP spoke on Saturday at Auki Primary School in Igembe South during the issuance of bursary forms to hundreds of students to help with their school fees.

Residents of Kiegoi and Antubochiu wards noted that the centre will be a major milestone in bringing government services closer to the people.

Mwirigi emphasized the positive impact the Huduma Centre will bring to the residents as it will significantly reduce the time and financial burden previously faced by locals who had to travel all the way to Meru Town for Huduma Centre services.

“Having the Huduma Centre in Igembe south sub-county means that our people will no longer have to endure long trips to Meru for government services,” Mwirigi said.

“This will make services more accessible, reduce travel costs, and save valuable time for many of our residents."

The MP said that the construction of the facility will begin this January.

Mwirigi further continued to say that the facility is expected to provide a wide range of government services such as the issuance of IDs, birth certificates, driving licences, and  CRB forms among others.

The Huduma Centre is expected to be a game-changer for the Igembe region, offering residents easier access to vital services without the financial strain as well as fostering local economic growth.

“The Huduma Centre is set to revolutionize service delivery for five sub-counties including Igembe Central, Igembe South, Igembe North, Mutuati and the neighbouring Tigania East,'' he said.

Mwirigi also emphasized that the establishment of the Huduma Centre is part of his broader vision to enhance infrastructure and service delivery in Igembe South.

In October 2024, Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi said the government was expanding Huduma Centres to cover all counties.

Muturi had said the Huduma service delivery program has transformed the public service to one that is helping Kenyans access and manage government services easily.
