Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is celebrating his 80th birthday this
Tuesday, January 7.
Born on January 7, 1945, in Maseno, Raila is the son of the late Jaramogi Oginga
Odinga and Mary Juma Odinga.
The milestone was met with widespread congratulations on social media from
supporters, politicians, and citizens alike.
The ODM party extended its best wishes, praying for God’s grace and
blessings, and success in all his endeavours.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris sent a heartfelt birthday
message, describing Raila as a remarkable statesman.
“Your unwavering commitment to Kenya has profoundly shaped our nation and
inspired countless individuals,” she said, also wishing him success as he
pursues the African Union Commission Chair position.
The elections are set for February 2024.
"May you achieve all your aspirations; the continent is eager for your
leadership! Your vision and dedication to serving Africa are truly commendable.
Wishing you a year filled with success, fulfilment, and continued impact,”
Passaris added.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna also joined in the celebrations, saying,
“Happy Birthday Baba Raila Odinga. Kila la heri mwaka huu na ubarikiwe siku
zote za maisha yako.”
Senator Hamida Kibwana echoed similar sentiments, saying;
“Happy Birthday
Baba, His Excellency Raila Odinga! Your visionary leadership and steadfast
dedication to Kenya inspire us all. As the cornerstone of our party's success,
you continue to lead with unmatched determination.”
MP George Kaluma added, “Like wine, you've matured with the passage of time.
It is time for Africa. Happy Birthday BABA wa Africa.”
Pauline Njoroge commented, “In biblical numerology, the number 8 signifies
new beginnings! Happy birthday Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga as you turn 80 today. This
is your year, and the African continent will testify!”
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa also wished Raila a happy birthday, adding, “Huu
ndio mwaka wa kuforci…”
An X user expressed their admiration, writing, “Kenya is lucky to have Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga as its candidate for AUC Chairperson. Baba's experience in leadership, mediation, and as a champion of Pan-Africanism make him an asset for the continent. Happy Birthday Baba!”
