Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has expressed deep gratitude and admiration for former First Lady Michelle Obama, calling her a “phenomenal role model” and a source of inspiration for women around the world.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media on Saturday, Passaris celebrated Michelle on her birthday, praising her character and leadership.

"Michelle Obama, thank you for being a phenomenal role model and an inspirational leader to us all," Passaris wrote in an X post.

“It's the girl from the South Side's birthday today! A priceless testament of grace, class, integrity, greatness, and beauty! And with my heart of hearts, I celebrate that you were born.”

Passaris, who has long admired Michelle’s journey from the South Side of Chicago to the White House, emphasised the former First Lady’s influence as an advocate for women’s empowerment, education and social justice.

Michelle celebrated her 61 birthday on January 17.

In a post then, her husband Barack Obama expressed his love in a heartfelt message, recognising her character.

“Happy birthday to the love of my life, Michelle Obama. You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace – and you look good doing it. I’m so lucky to be able to take on life's adventures with you. Love you!” he said.

Michelle was quick to respond with "Love you, honey!" coupled with two emojis - a heart and face blowing a kiss.
